Mission

To lead and prepare the research profession in the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow by identifying, evaluating, and providing information and guidance regarding emerging and future trends and technologies that are, or may become, relevant to research methods. 

Objectives

• Serve as the professional leaders for emerging and future technology-based applications in research.
• Provide an open forum for the discussion of best practices in the current and future use of technology in research.
• Lead in the development, dissemination and implementation of research concepts, best practices, and tools based on applicable existing, emerging and future technologies.
• Stimulate and develop ethical standards and professional responsibilities for the use of technology in research.
• Provide perspective to companies and researchers on the implications of new techniques and technology.
• As a body that reports to the MRA Board of Directors, strive to keep our mission, goals and objectives in line with those of the MRA.

Goals

• Provide timely information, guidance, and thought-leadership to the research profession on the impact and application of current and future research technologies.
• Prioritize, investigate and evaluate technologies with respect to their applications to research, through such means as are necessary, including internal committee discussions, hearing expert opinions, conducting research-on-research, or other evaluative and exploratory techniques.
• Translate and apply traditional research ethical principles to new and future research methods and publish guidance on these methods after hearing and considering appropriate levels of feedback from internal and external committee stakeholders.
• Work with other associations to develop uniform guidelines for the industry in terms of new methodologies and technologies.
