I once heard an anecdote, which I'll attempt to recreate here. A woman in her mid-40s is approached at a conference by a hairdresser, who hands her a card that says, "Modern, professional haircuts for modern, professional women."

Flattered and intrigued, she starts chatting with the hairdresser and — curious marketer that she is — asks about her unique business cards and how she got into this niche.

The hairdresser has a confession. Three other business cards are in her case, designed for other niches:
