EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

The European Union’s (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has been a primary activity occupying research companies for the past two years.  Since the date of its effect of 25 May 2018 we have seen how companies have implemented (or failed to implement) compliance as well as significant regulatory actions.  More is to come with the EU Data Privacy Regulation (which addresses  online communication services and online tracking technologies).  While Europe continues to remain a focus for data protection, attention is also now shifting to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The CCPA is the toughest US privacy regulation to date and its impact will be felt by almost every organization that does business in California or handles personal information of California citizens.

This presentation will give the attendee background information on GDPR and CCPA, will address the similarities and the differences, and provide practical guidance for compliance.
