Trends in response rates to mail surveys were discussed, as were methods for enhancing response rates. Results for two multi-year research projects were compared. One research project has used the same method for each year, so the trend in response rates with an identical method can be analyzed. The other research project has had variations in the use of incentives and the amount of follow-up conducted, so the effect of these changes can be discussed. Trend results date range from 1997 to the present.
